Be sure to read the 2006 steelhead (and salmon) regulations for open Santa Cruz County waters before you head out. Regulations vary from stream to stream, and if 2006 is like 2005, critical details include:
* Fishing days will be limited to Saturdays, Sundays. Wednesdays, holidays and opening and closing days in open Santa Cruz County waters.
* Call (707) 944-5533 the day before you go out to see if the waters you intend to fish are closed under Special Low Flow Regulations.
* Obviously, you must have a 2006 sport fishing license and a 2006.Steelhead Report Card.
