Cicada
Fly Tying Instructor: Elaine Cook
We usually think of this terrestrial imitation as a Green River (Utah) fly. That's where I first used it (with great success) but I've since discovered that it works in a lot of other places in the West. Butch Shrake and Kent Hull always thought this was an Eastern fly, for the truly massive Southeastern thirteen-year cicada emergences, every thirteen years, of course. So it probably works about everywhere, especially during those years when there are big flights of adults. (Eastern cicadas are on 13 (SE) and 17 (NE) year cycles; there are emergences of Western cicadas every year after 2-5 years as subterranean nymphs.)

April Fly Tying Class: Poppers
It's time to go after those bass and bluegills. We have so many local places to fish for these guys, so attend these classes and fill your fly boxes with poppers to attract them. They are an absolute necessity for Cecilia's upcoming fishouts. We need lead time to get the right amount of materials together for these classes, so we need you to sign up earlier than usual.
