* CalTrout Volunteer Opportunities
The Golden Trout Project, a collaborative effort by CalTrout, Trout Unlimited, the Federation of Fly Fishers, CA Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Forest Service, was created to help preserve our state fish, the California Golden Trout. As part of the project, we lead volunteers into the Golden's high sierra habitat to repair or maintain cattle-exclusion fencing, conduct population surveys and monitor fish barriers. The events run all summer.
Check www.caltrout.org/pages/regions/Eastern_Sierra/golden_trout.asp for more information and specific dates. The Eastern Sierra is a trout mecca and preserving the region's unique and varied trout streams is of the highest importance to CalTrout. Our Eastern Sierra Manager, Rob Lusardi, has also put together an ambitious schedule of volunteer events in the region. To volunteer for any of the Eastern Sierra dates contact Rob at lusardi@caltrout.org.
