Black Holographic Nymph
By Elaine Cook
Here's a great one for "bobbercating" or nymphing. It's an absolute must for Crowley Lake on the Mammoth Lakes fishout. Easy to tie!

| Hook: | standard dry fly such as Tiemco TMC-2487 sizes 14-18 (16 for Crowley) |
| Thread: | black 8/0 |
| Bead: | black or silver, size in proportion to hook (see diagram) |
| Rib: | silver wire |
| Body: | narrow black holographic Flashabou |
1. Crimp barb.
2. Slide bead onto hook, smaller hole against the hook eye.
3. Attach thread behind bead and wrap a bump against the bead to hold it in place. Tying off the body and rib and whip finishing immediately behind the bead will finish locking the bead in.
4. Wrap thread in touching turns about halfway down the hook bend, covering the shank and part of the bend smoothly.
5. Lay ribbing wire on top of the bend and shank, excess hanging down from the bend and bind it down with smooth thread wraps forward to the bead.
6. Lay body material on top of the hook and bind it down with smooth thread wraps to the ribbing tie-in point on the bend.
7. Wrap thread smoothly forward to the bead.
8. Wrap body material forward to the bead in slightly overlapping turns. Keep constant tension on the Flashabou as you wrap it. Tie off and cut excess.
9. Take about six evenly spaced turns of ribbing in the opposite direction of the body material wraps. Take a couple of turns of rib hard against the bead. Twist or bend the ribbing wire back and forth until it breaks off at the end of the last turn. Make sure the stub of ribbing wire does not stick out.
10. Whip finish hard against the bead. Make sure there are enough wraps to lock the bead in place. Cut excess thread.
