If you've never fished an ant, you need to. It works everywhere and fish come after it like it a was grasshopper or other big, tasty treat. It works as an indicator, with a small dropper, either dry or wet, and this year, on the Green River, it was one of the top dry flies.
It's very easy to tie, floats forever and is easy to see. It's a must-have for every fly box.
Bring your tools, vise, light, and magnification if you need it, and some 6/0 or 8/0 RED thread. Some equipment is available for beginners who do not yet have their own. This is a particularly good fly for beginners, who are always welcome.
