August is almost here and my fly rods and reels have hardly been used. The Lake Almanor trip had potential, but again, as last year - I was early. Not by much as the hatch was happening. It's just that somebody forget to tell the fish! My start time this
year was June 25-29. The fishing was probably hot just prior to the fourth and the week after. Next year, baby!
Right now I'm jonesin' to head up the coast, maybe as far as northern Oregon for some sea run cutthroat and summer steelhead action. The Oregon coast is a delight this time of year. It's not too late to get some reel time in.
