One of our club's premier fishouts is coming up in the middle of September. John Cook and Paul Schraeder co-host the awesome fish out known as Mammoth lakes, that starts September 15th and runs until the 29th. Members can choose between 3 options for this event. Stay the first week, or the second week or stay for the entire 2 weeks.
John and Paul put a lot of their free time into this, so you can count on the new condo being as comfy as the previous year's digs. Besides the excellent fishing opportunities in and around the Mammoth/Bishop area we have one other event that is as good as the fishing and that is - the dinners. Be sure to diet prior to the trip as evening meals are something to look forward to after chasing finned creatures all day.
The area also plays host to some outstanding fly shops. Mammoth itself has 4-5 shops starting with Performance Anglers owned by our March 2008 monthly guest speaker - Joe Contaldi. Joe offers club members a 10% discount on items bought in his store. Down the street to the east is The Trout Fitter. Going west is Rick's, where we usually stop to inflate our float tubes. On the other side of the street is Kittridges and further west into the heart of Mammoth is an Orvis-endorsed store. In Bishop there is Barrett's Outfitters in the north end and Brock's in the south end with a bunch of sporting goods stores in between.
After Mammoth the club has an outburst of fishouts that will have something for everybody. New members are encouraged to attend a few of these to meet the cast and crew of the Santa Cruz Fly Fishermen.
