* Redding NCCFFF Fly Fishing Festival
As you know, the NCCFFF annually holds a Fly Fishing Festival in Redding, and this year it is October 19, 20 and 21st. This year we have as a special guest, Bob Clouser, the creator of the famous Clouser minnow. Bob will be with us both Friday and Saturday, and will attend all events. He will be doing both tying demonstrations and fishing lectures. This is your opportunity to come and listen to one of our more famous East Coast fly fishers. Register on line at: www.nccfff.org.
We have wonderful programs in fly tying, casting, fishing and travel available for all to enjoy. Our FFF professional tyers will be there (approx 60 total), as well as a few of the west's best casting instructors, including Floyd Dean, Jeff Putnum and Mike Caranci. Fishing seminars on Bass fishing, fishing New Zealand, Lakes and Rivers of Oregon, fishing private waters in Northern California are available. Additionally, special talks on Pontoon boat fishing by Dave Scadden (maker of the best pontoon boats in fishing), on-stream rod repair with Jim Victorine, and entomology and stream biology with Ken Davis are available.
There will be a beginning fly fishing and fly tying area for kids and adults, and something for everyone interested in fly fishing.
We will be having a Friday night chili feed on the patio, hosted by the Shasta-Trinity Flyfishers, and there will be a young adults casting demonstration during the chili feed. In addition to Friday night's event, we will be having our Saturday night banquet, hosted by the Shasta Mayflies, at which there will be a lively raffle beforehand, and a live auction including trips, rods and reels, fly plates by our most famous tiers, as well as a special Lani Waller (NCCFFF Hall of Famer) spey rod and reel, including spey line and Waller sink tips.
As you can see, there will be much to do and see. This is our biggest organization event of the year, and we need your help to make it successful. You can help in several ways:
Attend the Festival - you'll have a great time. See website, www.nccfff.org, for special hotel rates.
At this month's club meetings, stand up and tell the club about the event, and hand out flyers.
At your club, put together a table of 8 members to attend the Saturday banquet. For a table of 8 you will receive 80 free raffle tickets. It will be a great dinner, with wine and desert, and we will have over $20,000 dollars worth of auction items available. We have asked each director to work to get at least one table of members from each of their clubs.
Bring a flyer to your local fly shop and tape it up for visitors to see. Leave registration forms with the shop for people to pick up.
Take advantage of the on-line registration at www.nccfff.org, click on "on-line registration" under the Festival of Fly Fishing wording.
Generally spread the word with friends and neighbors.
Money raised at this event goes to support the NCCFFF activities, including conservation and support for our clubs via grants, our newsletter, and our on-line network. This is your opportunity to support our local fly fishing people. Come and have fun! We want to see you and share some fishing experiences. - Mark Rockwell and Suzanne Poetzsch, Festival of Fly Fishing Co-Chairs
