Our December guest speaker is a guide familiar to many of our members who have chased steelhead on the Feather, Yuba and Trinity Rivers. Using the Redding area as his base of operation since 1997 when he first started to guide at the Clearwater House, Andrew, along with fellow guides Gino Bernero and Jon Hazlett, created a unique guide service in the fall of 2006 called "The Confluence Outfitters". It's kind of like the Fellowship of the Guides as the three men along with four other guides offer guided trips on all the major rivers in northern California and southern Oregon.
We asked Andrew to come down to give a presentation on the Heritage Trout Program that he has written about for California Fly Fisher magazine. In the summer months, Andrew has been able to hike around the Sierras, searching for and catching the rare, indigenous California trout that are defined as Heritage Trout. If you don't know what I am referring to when I say Heritage Trout, you need to attend the December meeting to learn the answer and find out more about the Confluence Outfitters.
