* The Annual Slide Show
Dougald says he hasn't gotten very many photos from you members yet for our Annual Slide Show in at the January 2nd meeting, so you need to get them to him soon, or the pictures you took of those huge fish you caught won't be exhibited at the show. If you want to amaze your friends and share your fishing adventures, please e-mail Dougald at dougald@comcast.net, and attach your photos. If you haven't yet begun shooting digital photos and have prints or slides, please call him at 427-1394, and he'll make arrangements to get your photos scanned so they can be included in the show, and return the originals to you. Get your photos in to Dougald by no later than December 12th.

* Dame Juliana Award Reminder
If you haven't voted your choice for this award, take a moment to reflect on your past year's fishing experiences, and try to recall incidents when another SCFF member helped you in some personal way. Did someone show you a great fishing spot, coach you on just the right method to hook that big fish you had your eye on, hand you a fly that worked, help you launch your boat, or just talk you into coming along on a fishout? Cast your vote for that person or persons, so they may be rewarded for sharing what our club is all about.

* MBSTP Fin Clipping - December 15th
Many of you volunteered for the fin clip last year at the Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project hatchery. On Saturday Dec 15th, MBSTP will be holding its annual fin clipping event, where a big group of us get together and setup an assembly line to mark all the hatchery fish - steelhead and coho salmon - by clipping off their adipose fins. It's a pretty fun event. Meet at the hatchery around 8:30 AM. We encourage carpooling up to the hatchery so if you want to do so and/or need a ride- please e-mail me to coordinate! The fin clipping lasts several hours and is followed by a barbecue when done! All are welcome. Please email me if you would like to participate or have more questions!
This is definitely a family event, so feel free to bring your kids, even if you think you will spend your time herding them around. It's still fun! - Sean Hayes, PhD, Fisheries Ecology Division, Southwest Fisheries Science Center, Sean.Hayes@noaa.gov.

* Klamath Hydro Project Removal
Excerpts of a letter from B.B. Blevins, Executive Director, California Energy Commission, to the California Public Utilities Commission:
"At the request of the California Department of Fish and Game, the California Water Resources Control Board, and other state and federal agencies, the California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) retained an economic consultant to evaluate the cost and energy issues associated with relicensing or removing the Klamath Hydro Project [project consisting of four main dams and powerhouses on the Klamath River]. The results of this analysis have been sent to FERC, PacifiCorp and the other parties involved with this relicensing proceeding."
"The scientific information provided in the administrative record coupled with the Energy Commission's own energy and economic analyses demonstrate that decommissioning [removing the dams] with replacement power [from other sources] is the least-cost and biologically superior project option for PacifiCorp's ratepayers."

* Fishout Eligibility reminder
For obvious (insurance) reasons the club insists that only members attend club-sponsored fishouts. Membership is $30 per year. If you have been on a club fishout and have not yet sent in your 2008 membership dues and signed your release of liability, please do so now.
