* Dame Juliana Award Reminder
If you haven't voted your choice for this award, take a moment to reflect on your past year's fishing experiences, and try to recall incidents when another SCFF member helped you in some personal way. Did someone show you a great fishing spot, coach you on just the right method to hook that big fish you had your eye on, hand you a fly that worked, help you launch your boat, or just talk you into coming along on a fishout? Cast your vote for that person or persons, so they may be rewarded for sharing what our club is all about.

* Right in Our Backyard
State of California Historical Landmark #970, location: 50 yards past Redwood Gate entrance kiosk, Redwood Regional Park, Oakland, states:
No. 970 Rainbow Trout Species Identified. The naming of the Rainbow Trout species was based on fish taken from the San Leandro Creek drainage. In 1855, Dr. W. P. Gibbons, founder of the California Academy of Sciences, was given three specimens obtained from the creek. He described and assigned them the scientific name Salmo iridia. Rainbow Trout are now worldwide in distribution and are a highly prized game fish.

* Fishout Eligibility reminder
For obvious (insurance) reasons the club insists that only members attend club-sponsored fishouts. Membership is $30 per year. If you have been on a club fishout and have not yet sent in your 2008 membership dues and signed your release of liability, please do so now.
