A Must See Event
by Tim Loomis

I heard last week from Troy Mayers that there will be a fly fishing film festival coming to the Rio Theatre. Sure enough, I received an e-mail from the National FFF informing all chapter presidents that the "Fly Fishing Film Tour 2008" is scheduled to run at the Rio Theatre on Wednesday, February 6th.
On any other month that would be a problem but having it in February allows us all a chance to go to the movies.
You see, the 6th of February is the first Wednesday of the month, the night we usually have our monthly meeting. That's what I call good timing.
After viewing some of the trailers on their website, www.flyfishingtour.com,I reached the conclusion that the eight films featured follow Warren Miller's format for his ski/snowboard movie that starts to tour the country just before Thanksgiving.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. Tickets run $15.00 apiece, $12 for seniors, and children for $10. Before the movie starts there will be some information given on the Alaskan Bristol Bay situation. The club will also have a table in the theatre lobby with club information available for the general public.
Popcorn is not served at the Rio so bring your own. They do serve bottled water. Sorry gang - NO Beer! Fish On!

Note: The ConFab replaces our usual monthly meeting in February. This year's site will be at the Santa Cruz Gardens Elementary School on Saturday, February 9th. Hours are 9:00 AM-4:30 PM. Food is up to you as it is a potluck format. The annual casting contest (who can out perform Kathy Powers?) and my favorite-the blindfolded fly tying event (there will be medical personal on hand!) will all take place. After my goof at last year's event, I am only allowed to participate in events with trained medical staff near by. So be assured, all will be safe.
