Here's a midge pattern for Pyramid Lake that was very successful last spring. Fish this using a "bobbercating" method.

| Hook: | 2457 size 10 |
| Bead: | silver 3/32 size |
| Thread: | Black 6/0 |
| Rib: | Silver wire |
| Body | 1. Medium tinsel (silver on one side, gold on the other) 2. Brown floss |
| Collar | Peacock herl |
1. Crimp barb.
2. Feed bead onto hook, small opening first.
3. Attach thread behind bead with about 8 wraps of thread.
4. Tie in rib. Wrap to rear of hook in touching thread wraps. See diagram.
5. Tie in floss.
6. Tie in tinsel so that when wrapped, the gold side will show.
7. Advance thread to behind bead. Tie half hitch. Position thread out of the way.
8. Wrap tinsel forward in snug overlapping wraps (keep tension on tinsel constantly to control spiraling out of control). Tie off. Cut excess. Tie one half hitch.
9. Bring floss forward allowing fibers to spread apart around shank. Tie off. Cut excess. Tie half hitch. Position thread out of the way.
10. Spiral rib forward, opposite direction of tinsel, in about 8 wraps. Tie off. Cut excess.
11. Select herl with long barbs. cut butt end off. Tie in, make dubbing loop, twist to form chenille, wrap 1-2 wraps around shank, tie off with firm wraps, cut excess.
12. Whip finish behind bead. Cut thread.
