Comfort While Tying
by Elaine Cook

A few things to consider at the fly tying desk:

* To see the fly better, use light, magnification, and white paper propped behind the vise.

* To manage glue from being where you don't want it, suspend the bobbin off to the side while applying, have a tissue or rag available to wipe off tools and fingers immediately, and clean the eye of the hook by pulling a hackle feather through it while the glue is still wet.

* Tired of sticking yourself on the hook while tying? Place hook so that the tip is completely hidden in the jaws of the vise.

* Ever wonder what to do with that small square magnet you get in the package of hooks? Remove the paper and glue it to the vise base. It's great for securing hooks and tied flies.

* Do set up a fly tying desk or other dedicated place to tie. You will find that far more flies get tied and the frustration factor will disappear.
