This is an attractor pattern for trout. It works well particularly well in rivers and with a dropper. It's great in swollen waters from spring runoff. This fly tying experience is not intended for beginners.

Hook:TMC 5262 size 10
Tail:Light elk hair
Post:White antron from spool
Body:Pale yellow Kevlar,
or red floss or peacock herl
Wing:Light elk hair
Hackle:Grizzly

1. Crimp barb.
2. Attach thread 1/4 hook shank back from eye.
3. Cut 6" length of Antron, cut in half twice. Stack pieces. Attach to shank by placing center under shank and pulling ends upward. Tie to shank by posting wraps and wraps around shank. Apply drop of Zap-a-Gap. Cut posts to length of shank.
4. Select small clump of Elk hair, clean out underfur. Stack. Cut length so butts are against post, and tips 2/3 hook gap beyond shank. Tie in place with palmered wraps to rear of shank, do not flare fibers, than back to post. Tie off thread. Cut.
5. Attach Kevlar a little behind post. Wrap to rear of shank in touching wraps covering up black thread, then forward again in touching wraps. Tie off. Cut.
6. Reattach black thread behind post. Select clump of elk hair the size of matchstick. Clean out underfur, stack. Measure from base of post and tops to end of tail (no further). Tie in place on top of shank allowing elk to flair. Cut butts close. Tie butts down.
7. Cut 2 one-inch lengths of rubber legs. Attach one to each side of shank. (See diagram).
8. Select hackle, barbs 1 1/2 hook gap. Cut off fuzz end. Cut several barbs short. Toe on at base of post, then wrap stem up post a short way to keep it out of the way.
9. Select 2 strands peacock herl, cut off butts, attach to base of post. Make chenille of herl. Advance thread to in front of post. Wrap chenille around base of post and shank. Be sure to cover all prior thread wraps. Tie off. Cut excess.
10. Wrap hackle around base of post with lots of wraps. Tie off, cut excess.
11. Wrap thread head. Whip finish. Cut thread. Apply Zap-a-Gap.
