This is a reverse tie (tail over the hook eye) with a novel way to form a parachute hackle. BWO (blue-winged olive) colors are chosen because it is available to trout in good numbers nearly everywhere. This style has proven itself effective over picky fish for more than twenty years, likely because its silhouette is different enough from the usual ties that hard-fished trout haven't learned to reject it.
Bring olive 8/0 (70 denier) thread, your tying tools, vise, light and magnification if needed. This is a small fly (size 18 on a 3XL hook). Beginners are always welcome; a couple of sets of tools, vises and lights are available for those who do not yet have their own.
Sign-up will be at the May club meeting and are much appreciated, as the instructor has to prepare enough materials packages and instruction sheets for the participants. If you can't make it to the meeting and want to come to the class, call Kent or leave a message at 662-3332. And if you sign up and later find you can't attend, please call to cancel.
