This is a size 20 midge, tied with 6/0 or 8/0 black thread. This is a good one for fly tiers to learn a small fly because it is easy. It is good in tailwaters, cold weather, and the winter, so it's called the winter midge.
Students should bring 6/0 or 8/0 black thread, tools, and light. The club has some tools to loan to novices.
