With the end of May approaching we can foresee the waters of Monterey Bay glassing off to a mirror like surface. It's bad for the surfers, but good for kayak fishermen. Our May guest speaker is a respected authority on the subject of kayak flyfishing.
Ricky Mitchell will be coming in from the Fresno area to demonstrate to our members the ins and outs of kayak flyfishing. Since his last visit to our club, kayak fishing has really grown. Drive past the Capitola pier this summer and count the kayakers fishing for halibut. I bet there will be at least 15-20 kayaks in the water all vying for position to land a 20-pound flatty. Ricky has written a book for Orvis titled "Orvis Guide to Personal Fishing Craft" . His knowledge on the subject will be shared with our members so we can take this new learned info and apply it along with our flyfishing skills to land halibut, sea bass, rockfish and lings right here in the Monterey Bay.
So if you have a 'yak already or are thinking of getting one soon be sure to attend the May club meeting.
