Do you like fishing the catch and release section of the Merced? Go to http://cdec.water.ca.gov/river/mercedStages.html. Scroll down to the graph "Merced River near Briceburg" and check "flow, river discharge, cfs." Since there aren't any dams up-river, flow is totally at the mercy of Mother Nature. Ideal flow rates for fly-fishing are well below 2000 cfs. which I discovered March 28th. I won't venture that way again unless the flow is less then 800 cfs.
