The Crazy Charlie is an excellent shallow saltwater fly, a favorite of bone fish, but also effective with shad. It's an imitation shrimp pattern that originally was supposed to imitate small baitfish, but with the addition of bead-chain weighting, it became a sink and strip pattern. It has a erratic bouncing action on the bottom that gets the fish's attention and elicits a fierce strike.
As always, bring vise, tools, and light. Bring magnification and glasses as needed. You'll need white 6/0 thread. Some equipment is available for beginners who are, as usual, most welcome.
Sign up at the club meeting or call John at 476-0648. Sign ups are VERY important to insure there will be sufficient materials. If you sign up and then find you can't attend, notice of cancellation is greatly appreciated.
