Lady of the Night
submitted by Elaine Cook
This fly is similar to the featured fly at the class this month. Both are very effective patterns for still-water. They simulate baby fish, so fish them in short, irregular strips.

| Hook: | TMC 5262 size 8 |
| Thread: | White 6/0 |
| Body: | Wide (large) flat mylar tinsel |
| Underwing: | Marabou, purple, blue, green, yellow, and white |
| Overwing: | Well-barred Mallard flank feather |
1. Crimp barb.
2. Attach thread one eye length behind hook eye. Wrap to rear of shank in touching wraps.
3. Tie in tinsel so that when wrapped forward the silver side will show.
4. Wrap thread forward with close wraps to tie-in position.
5. Wrap tinsel forward in overlapping wraps. Tie off two eye lengths behind hook eye and cut excess.
6. Select 6 - 8 fluffy barbs of white marabou. Moisten for easy handling. Lay on top of shank, tips to rear, one shank length beyond
shank. Tie in place with only three thread wraps. Cut excess. Pinch off tips so that they extend 1/2 shank length beyond shank.
7. Repeat step # 6 with yellow, then green, then blue, then purple marabou. Be sure they are stacked one on top of the last.
8. Select one Mallard flank feather. Lay flat on top of stacked marabou so the tip extends just beyond the marabou tips. Cut stem just
behind the hook eye. Cut several barbs short on each side of stem. Tie in place from right behind eye to two eye lengths back on shank.
9. Wrap thread head. Whip finish. Cut thread. Apply Zap-A-Gap.
