Take a Friend Fishing!!
submitted by Kirk Mathew

Fishing with a friend makes for twice the fishing fun while also making for a safer trip. Whilst this may seem too obvious to even mention, the benefits are many, even if you DON'T have an emergency. Let's face it, if you're alone and catch a really big fish, it doesn't count! You need a buddy to verify your story. And someone to remove embedded hooks, find the car, remember sunscreen/lunch/water/band aids/that "special fly"/the map/sunglasses, etc.

And in the event of a true emergency, the benefits are equally obvious. It doubles your chances of having essential gear. Should there be a need for someone to get additional help or resources, you're there.

Have a plan. Know where each other are. Know how to contact each other. If you separate, intentionally or not, have a plan as to where and when you'll meet. Know where the vehicle keys are. These are all small things that may well save the day.
