Trout season is over and for some, it is a time to sit back, watch ball games and occasionally look at the tying bench and reflect inwardly that "I ought to sit down and start tying".
But for others, fishing never hesitates a second. Stripers are biting on San Luis, the Forebay and the Delta. Steelhead fishing is hot for those that like the cold. There's always barred perch biting close at hand and there are private lakes available for bass and trout. What a great place we live; so let's go fishing!
Elsewhere in the "Gearing Up" section, please note I changed the day for our December surf fish-out from Saturday to the Sunday after our meeting. It allows those who would like to assist in the fin clipping project at the hatchery, the opportunity to do both.
As I write this on Nov. 22, we are still looking for a volunteer to be Secretary of our Club for 2010. Please give me a call or drop a note if you are interested in the position. At the December meeting we will vote on our 2010 Board and Committee chairs.
I had a great time on the Upper Sacramento fishout, ably arranged by Bruce Dau, one of so many of you who give your time unselfishly to help others have a great time in our sport. It was also a wonderful opportunity to get to know another member. Rich Hughett, was my roommate and truck-mate on the trip. Turns out we are almost exactly the same age. The buttons on my radio tune into the same stations as does his.
