Tying Flies All Over The Place!
by Elaine Cook

There are three events coming up:

1. Fly Tying Class: Wednesday evening, February 10th, featuring the "Mr. Bill" fly, at Aptos Grange. Doors open at 6:45 PM, class starts at 7:00 PM.

2. The ConFab: Saturday, February 13th, from 10:00 AM until noon, featuring the Dillon Attractor fly, at Santa Cruz Gardens Elementary School.

3. The Blind Fly Tying Contest: At the ConFab, featuring a "Mystery Fly", at Santa Cruz Gardens Elementary School, at noon, during the pot luck lunch. Don't miss this opportunity to have great fun and a few laughs. No need to be an experienced fly tier, but I challenge you experts to show just how good you are.

Both of the class flies featured are great dry flies. The "Mr. Bill" (Editor's note: This is actually a Western Coachman. Ask Elaine), is probably my first "go to" fly in my trout box. What more can I say? The Dillon Attractor is a relatively new pattern that's great for spring run off, heavy water, and big rivers.
All materials, directions, and instruction will be provided with the exception of thread. Please bring: Black 8/0 thread for "Mr. Bill", red and yellow 6/0 thread for the Dillon Attractor, vise and tools, light, glasses and/or magnification. The club has some setups for the novice tiers, who are always welcome and encouraged to join in.

Since we are not having a regular club meeting in February (the all day ConFab takes its place) please sign up for the class on February 10th by calling Elaine at 688-1561.
