Fly Fishing the Fall River
Guest Speaker: Chris Parsons

Our April guest speaker is an old friend of club members who have attended the April Owens River Valley fishout. Some years ago, while fishing the Owens River, just down from Pleasant Valley campsite, we came across a lone fisherman who was so adept at nymphing that even our veteran nymphers were impressed with his abilities. The young man's name was Chris Parsons. Chris was trying to establish himself in the world of Northern California fishing guides at the time, so he was eager to meet prospective clients. As an incentive to hire him out as a guide on the lower Sacramento River, he offered us a remarkably low guide rate. That was maybe eight to ten years ago.
Chris is now one of the top guides out of The Fly Shop in Redding. He specializes in all aspects of fly fishing, but one of his favorite rivers to guide on and fish himself is the Fall River out of Burney, CA. Most guides specialize in one aspect or other of the sport to enhance their credibility within the client community. Chris's personality is one of his most prominent assets, and he uses it with flair.
I have heard that in order to be closer to the Fall River during the late spring and summer months, Chris moves his family up to the river in a large RV. That puts him at ground zero when the hex and spinner hatches are at their peak. With this type of dedication, you can be sure that Chris knows the river inside and out. Be sure to make the April meeting to hear Chris talk on the characteristics of the legendary Fall River.

* PLEASE NOTE: Please do not congregate near the entrance of the Grange hall before the meeting. Do not enter the building until 6:45 PM. If you wish to chat before the meeting, please do so away from the entrance.
