Talented Fishermen
by President Sam Bishop

The opportunities to fish with very talented fishing friends in our club are remarkable. Twice since last month's issue I have had great fun at Roostercomb, sponsored by the indefatigable Cecilia Stipes. No wonder she has won the Dame Juliana Award twice!

Speaking of Roostercomb, if you haven't seen Chris Walters' bass poppers, you have missed a huge WOW factor!

But then there's the surf fishing. I never know who might show up at these events, but there are always at least a few of us die-hards. It paid off on May 8, when five of us (Jim Hall, Kirk Mathew, Pat Marshall, Tom Bradley and I) fished Rio Del Mar beach, catching somewhere around 40 to 45 Walleye and Barred Perch. It was all grins. :-}

Jim and Gary Hazelton went out the following Tuesday and caught "more than we could count", including a Striper for Jim. First one I have heard on a fly in our area this season. It is logical than Jim would catch it, of course!

And this from Pat Marshall on Wednesday: "Hit the beach late, about 7:15 AM. Went to the "honey hole" and landed 34 perch to 12 inches. Didn't keep any. Lots of obviously pregnant hens."

At our meeting this week, we have another great program, with our own member Rich Rubin making a presentation on his great fishing excursions. If you have seen Rich's enthusiastic programs in the past, you know you'll like this program.

Let's please wear our name badges at the meeting...thanks!
