Sheep Creek
submitted by Elaine Cook
This fly imitates everything from midge to damselfly to caddis nymphs and emergers. It's best fished in stillwater with a floating line. Lick fly so that it sinks 1 to 5 inches below the surface. Use a very slow strip or steady retrieve.

| Hook: | TMC 5263 3X long, size 14-16 |
| Thread: | Olive 6/0 or 8/0 |
| Hackle: | Brown neck or saddle 1 1/4 hook gap |
| Body: | Fine olive chenille |
| Wing: | Mallard flank bared barbs |
1. Crimp barb.
2. Attach thread behind hook eye, wrap to rear of shank.
3. Prepare hackle by cutting off fuzzy end, stroking barbs so they stand out to side of stem, then cut short 3 or 4 barbs on each side of
stem. Tie in at rear of shank with the curve of the feather up, or, if using saddle hackle, dull side down. Wrap hackle in place with only 2 or 3 wraps, (sparsely) tie off, cut excess.
4. Pull fuzz off 1/4" of end chenille and tie in. Wrap thread forward to one eye length behind hook eye. Wrap chenille forward, tie off, cut excess.
5. Select about 6 - 8 barbs of mallard flank feather and tie in with tips extending to rear of fly ending in the hackle. Tie in, cut excess.
6. Wrap thread head, whip finish.
