Valli Thompson Power
1949 - 2010

Valli Thompson Power, 60, of Trinity Center, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010. She was SCFF member Howard Power's wife.

She was born Oct. 1, 1949, in Los Gatos. Valli was a resident of Trinity Center, after spending 20 years on the Monterey Peninsula. She succumbed to pneumonia in a Miami hospital nine days after being medically evacuated from Haiti, where she was visiting her daughter's family.

A marine biologist and educator, she worked for the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Education Division and taught for 15 years at Roosevelt Elementary School in Salinas. Always an artist, she retired to Northern California and did more painting and sculpting, and was always there for her children, Starry and Collin Sprenkle and her stepdaughters, Jennifer and Kathy Power.

Survivors: Valli is survived by her husband of 20 years, Howard Power; children, Starry and Collin Sprenkle; stepchildren, Jennifer and Kathy Power; brother, Clifford Thompson; sister, Audrey Howard and grandchildren, Jasmine Hyppolite and Bradley and Wyatt Stade.
