This is a baitfish imitation to represent the Smelt Found in San Louis Reservoir and O'Neil forebay. This baitfish pattern is tied on a 60-degree jig hook which promotes a much better catch ratio than a standard "J" hook. The pattern utilizes three colors of craft fur, which provides exceptional action. This pattern has been very successful at San Louis Reservoir for about 10 years, and recently accounted for a 37-pound striper, caught at the lake.
Bring Flymaster Plus white and red thread, your tools (vise, dubbing loop tool and brush, bobbin , scissors etc.) and a light. All materials to tie the San Louis Smelt, instruction and illustration sheet will be provided. Beginners are always welcome and encouraged to participate; some equipment is available.
Sign up at the general club meeting on August 5th, or call Lee at (831) 332-5757 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you sign up and then find you will not be able to attend, notice of cancellation is appreciated.
