Fisherman's First Aid Kit
By Tom Deetz

Dougald asked me to put together a list of first aid items to be carried in a car. A convenient size plastic box can be found at either art supply stores or hardware stores that will hold all materials in a dust free environment. Because anglers are more likely than others to get off the beaten track, I have included some items for more isolated experiences. Obviously this list is only a starting point and can be modified to meet your needs. Good luck.

* Bandages: paper tape, 4x4's, 2x2's, Coban (check veterinary supply stores, it's cheaper there), Ace wraps, bandaids, and moleskin, and duct tape for splints, slings, etc.
* Gloves, latex or polyvinyl
* Scissors, tweezers, tick removers
* Steristrips, super glue for small cuts, lacerations
* Hand gel, alcohol based
* Betadine or chlorhexidine based antiseptic or scrub
* Alcohol prep packs
* Triple antibiotic ointment, Claritin or Benadryl, Tylenol, and aspirin
* Artificial tears for eye wash
* Ice packs, hand warmers, lighter, fire starter, whistle, compass, space blanket, flares, and fire extinguisher
* The drugs and material should be checked at least yearly for freshness and expiration dates.
