Moving On
By Dougald Scott
It was three years ago when former newsletter editor Elaine Cook took the training wheels off and gave me a big shove into the world of newsletter editing. Fortunately Elaine and Publisher Pat Steele already had a system in place to produce an outstanding newsletter month after month. So my transition went smoothly, and in the interim, I have had the opportunity to serve on the Board and get to know many of our club members. I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute in this job.

As I turn over the reins of editorship to the able hands of Kent Hull, I want to thank all those who have helped to make the newsletter the success it is: the Presidents; the Committee Heads; the Fish Masters; and all of the other members who contributed articles or ideas. Special thanks go to Co-Editors Jon Bowman and Alayne Meeks who often wrote articles and took over when I was fishing. Most of all I want to thank Publisher/Webmaster Pat Steele, who receives a scattered array of documents toward the end of the month, and in a matter of one or two days, transforms them into a polished newsletter. Not only does she put the newsletter together; she has it printed; prints and adds address labels; and mails it. As if that isn't enough, she converts the whole thing to HTML, and posts it on the club's website. Thank you Pat!
I don't think this is news to our club members, but I have to say it: we have a very good thing going here. I have never had so many great fishing opportunities, or fished with so many wonderful people, as I have in my five years in this club. I have always experienced a warm, friendly atmosphere, and a spirit of cooperation and helpfulness in every club activity I have attended. I've made many new friends; and with their help, learned much about the art of fly fishing. Thank you Santa Cruz Fly Fishermen!
