How 2005 is Shaping Up
By Fishmaster Harry Petrakis
I went on 7 fishouts this year. I had memorable moments on all of them. I came away from each one a better fisherman, and to some extent, I believe a better person. I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of the Fishmasters for their diligence and hard work in hosting these events, and add, that I look forward to attending again this year. Let the beat go on.
The 2005 fishout schedule makes its first appearance in the newsletter this month. The first event is the Confab on Saturday, February 12th. It is followed by the Pyramid Lake fishout on March 13th thru the 17th. The month of April brings the Los Padres Reservoir fishout in Carmel Valley and the Roostercomb fishout (one of four fishouts Cecilia is hosting). Check out the ŌGearing upÕ column in this issue for details. We have a new fishout to Davis Lake hosted by Betty Rentz for the first week of June to coincide with the damsel fly hatch. This is one I wonÕt want to miss either. Look for the sign up sheets at the meetings or call the fishmaster shown on the schedule to secure a place for a fishout. A reminder that deposits are required and not refundable in most cases. As in the case of the Pyramid fishout, you may be asked to find your own accommodations so check the Gearing up column for details.
Several Fishout proposals are being kicked around to see if there is any interest from club members. If you want to attend let me know, and if we get enough interest we will provide more info. Feel free to make venue suggestions or to host a fishout. We welcome your participation!
Here are the suggestions: 1)Upper Klamath Lake in southern Oregon, 4+ days at a lodge fish surrounding rivers and lakes. summer; 2)Lake Amador long weekend or ?, motels nearby, camping and RV available, big trout from a float tube, November to February; 3) a day trip to Little Pinoche Reservior about 2 hours drive for bass hosted by Brian Bommarito in April or May (see the "Gearing Up" column for details on this proposal).

*For more information and to sign up for outings, contact the fishmasters, look for handouts at the club meetings and write-ups in the newsletter. Some fishouts require advanced planning and payment. Please don't ask fishmasters for refunds if you have signed up, paid, and later find out you are unable to attend the fishout. Fees paid ahead are not refundable, unless someone else takes your place.
