O'Connell-Bourdet Ranch - Oct. 8th 2005
Fishmaster: Cecilia Stipes - 335-5727, FLYFISHGAL3@aol.com
This is will be a day trip to a local ranch for bass and bluegill fishing. The ranch is located near Morgan Hill close to Casa de Fruta on Hwy 152, north of Bell Station about four miles east. We will leave in a group from the Casa de Fruta Restaurant at 8:30 AM sharp. Four-wheel drive vehicles are mandatory for transportation onto this property to negotiate steep inclines on dirt roads. The two ponds we will fish are nestled back in the hills side by side to an old cabin. Lunch arrangements will be announced later. The cost will be $80 per person. If you are interested, please contact me. There is no specific call-in date, but you must confirm your participation no later than the October Club meeting. This fishout is limited to twelve members who will fish.

Those who sign up will be contacted, to arrange a place for everyone in a boat for the two days - or one day - according to needs, based on the number of boats and spaces available. Because it is usual to fish only two to a boat, it is possible that not everyone will be able to be accommodated. Boats can be rented from Sugar Barge (800-799-4100). Or see their website (www.sugarbarge.com).
Everyone should be there and ready to shove off no later than 7 AM on Saturday, October 22nd and again at 7 AM on Sunday, October 23rd.
Mount Shasta - Oct. 26th to 30th 2005-Upper Sacramento and McCloud Rivers
Fishmaster: Bruce Dau 427-3974

When: Friday October 28th to Sunday October 30th
Where: KOA, 900 N. Mt Shasta Blvd., Mt Shasta, CA - 800-562-3617
Warning to tent or car campers: The weather can be unpredictable at this time of year and elevation (3500ft) and some kind of heated accommodations are recommended. Tom Dwyer and his friend Mark can attest to this.
This is a great time of year to fish these two rivers, and see some beautiful fall colors. I've always had my best luck of the season in this time period. The October caddis should be active, with the rainbows trying to fatten up for winter. In addition, the brown trout will be starting their spawning run through the Nature Conservancy section of the McCloud.
I will provide a simple breakfast, ingredients to make sack lunches, and soft drinks and snacks for apres fishing. We will go into Mt. Shasta (five minutes away) for dinner, where there are a number of good restaurants.
If you are staying in the log cabins, don't forget to bring your own sleeping bags/bedding and towels. There is a big heated common bathroom area by the office, with showers. I will be up scouting the area starting Monday or Tuesday if you want to come up earlier. If you arrive on Friday before I return from fishing and want to get into a cabin, you can go to the office and tell them you're in the Santa Cruz Club group and get a key. Around dark we will make plans to hit a local restaurant.
Call me if you have any questions.
